Description
Anke Djé Tribal Table
Our stunning wooden Tribal Tables are handcrafted in Ghana, West Africa
and finished here in Australia.
Anke Djé, translates to “everyone gather together in peace”.
This table has a beautiful Hausa place-mat underneath the removable glass top
The Place-mat has been hand woven in Africa by the Hausa women of Nigeria who have a long history as basket weavers.
Made using the traditional woven coiled method so it is tightly woven with the top having a smooth design and underside rougher in appearance.
Natural dyes are used to create the patterns.
The Hausa people are concentrated mainly in northwestern Nigeria and in adjoining southern Niger in an area which is mostly semi arid grassland or savanna.
The Hausa people collect various grasses, which they harvest every summer and weave into these stunning place mats.
The beautiful Adinkra tribal carvings
On side of the tables are symbolic to the Ashanti kingdom,
each symbol has it’s own meaning.
Our unique tribal tables look fantastic in any traditional or modern contemporary
decor and can be used as a lamp table, side table, coffee table or simply a stunning stand alone signature piece.
We support the artisans of Africa and aim to keep the ancient skills of all tribes alive and well
through trade and exposure to a global market.
