Anke Djé Tribal Table – Hand-Carved Ghanaian Drum Table with Glass Top
A sculptural handcrafted table carved in Ghana and thoughtfully finished here in Australia. Featuring symbolic Adinkra motifs and a handwoven African mat beneath a tempered glass top, the Anke Djé Tribal Table blends luxury, cultural heritage and contemporary design into a single timeless piece.
The Anke Djé Tribal Table is a celebration of craftsmanship, culture and modern design. Carved by skilled artisans in Ghana from solid timber, each table carries the warmth of traditional African woodworking, reinterpreted for refined contemporary interiors. Its name, Anke Djé—“everyone gather together in peace”—reflects the unity and artistry that shape every detail of this piece. The table is beautifully finished in Australia, allowing each component to be elevated with precision and care.
Beneath its tempered glass top sits a handwoven African mat crafted by a collective of more than 700 rural women in the mountains of Eswatini. Working from home and using sustainable local fibres, these women transform traditional weaving skills into contemporary designs that support their families and uplift vulnerable children within their communities. Your table directly contributes to their livelihood and the continuation of their craft.
Etched into the body of the table are symbolic Adinkra carvings from the Ashanti kingdom of Ghana. Each motif carries its own philosophy and meaning, creating a subtle language of heritage within the design. No two carvings are alike, giving every table a unique personality and a sense of cultural authenticity.
Curated for considered spaces, the Anke Djé Tribal Table becomes a sculptural statement—equally suited to modern minimalism, earthy natural interiors, Moroccan-inspired styling or contemporary Australian design. Use it as a side table, lamp table, bedside, coffee table or a standalone art piece. This is not just furniture; it is a refined cultural object with purpose, origin and soul.
